There are 2 main types of casting, sand casting and special casting.
Ordinary sand casting, using sand as the mold material, also known as sand casting, foundry, including wet sand, dry sand and chemical hardening sand 3, but not all are available in sand casting. Advantage is low cost, because of the use of the mold sand can be used repeatedly; the disadvantage is time-consuming mold manufacture, the mold itself cannot be reused to damage can be achieved after finished.
1. sand mold (core) casting methods: wet sand mold, resin self hard sand mold, water glass sand mold, dry and surface dry type, solid mold casting, negative pressure modeling.
2. manufacturing method of sand core is selected according to the size, shape, production volume and specific production conditions of the sand core. In production, in general, it can be divided into manual core and machine core.
Special casting, special casting press molding materials can be divided into natural mineral sand as the main materials (such as casting, mud casting, shell casting, vacuum casting, mold casting, ceramic mold casting, special casting and metal) as the main cast materials (such as metal casting, pressure casting, continuous casting, low pressure casting, centrifugal casting, etc.) two.
pate-de-verre
This method can be used for outer membrane casting and solid casting.
First the object needed to replicate wax casting, and then dipped into ceramic containing (or silica sol) in the pool and stay dry, the wax replica covered with a layer of ceramic membrane, repeating the steps until the outer membrane is sufficient to support the casting process (about 1/4 inch 1/8 inch), then melting the wax. Pull away, and die. Then the mold needs to be high temperature for many times, and then it can be cast after strengthening the hardness.
This method is of good accuracy and can be used as a casting of high melting point metal (such as titanium). However, because of the high price of ceramics and the need for many heating and complex production, the cost is very expensive.
Metal mold casting
Making mould by using metal with higher melting point than raw material. It is subdivided into gravity casting, low pressure casting and high pressure casting.
The molten metal is restricted to the melting point of the mold, and the cast metal is also limited.
